GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Assists the Chief Nurse Anesthetist and the Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology in meeting the goals and objectives of the department.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the anesthetic management for all patients presenting for anesthesia care. (35%)
  • Assumes all duties of the Chief Nurse Anesthetist during his/her absence from the unit. (35%)
  • Establishes effective interpersonal relationships and communication with interdisciplinary perioperative teams. (10%)
  • Demonstrates effective leadership and is responsible for ongoing professional growth and development. (10%)
  • Adheres to the legal and ethical standards of nursing and of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists. (5%)
  • Contributes to department, division and hospital goals. (5%)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • Current PA RN license
  • Certification as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists
  • 3 years clinical experience
  • CPR – American Heart Association
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association
