GENERAL OVERVIEW:

The Behavioral Health Community Educator, in conjunction with leadership, will be responsible for planning and implementing a comprehensive behavioral health community education program. They will coordinate with community organizations and nonprofits to educate them on the behavioral health adult and geriatric programming and psychiatric unit at Saint Vincent Hospital. They will assist with the referral process and help develop referral pipelines in the community to support the SVH psychiatric unit. They will maintain and disseminate accurate community education information and coordinate the units' external communications.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implements a community education program that promote Saint Vincent Hospital (SVH) adult and geriatric psychiatric units within Northwest, PA. (20%)

  • Creates and monitors a referral process for providers to refer adult and geriatric patients to SVH for inpatient psychiatric care for adult and geriatric patients. (10%)

  • Maintains an up to date, thorough understanding of the services provided by the program, and admission criteria and effectively communicates this information to current and potential rereferral sources the community. (10%)

  • Responds to all requests for general information and education about the SVH unit treatment program. (10%)

  • In Coordination with leadership, individual is responsible to develop, maintain and update a comprehensive marketing and education plans. (10%)

  • Attends community relations and education opportunities representing SVH. (10%)

  • Maintains a record of contacts, engagements and education in the community. (10%)

  • Develop marketing brochures, information and give aways for community engagements and education. (10%)

  • Attends community functions representing SVH and the psychiatric program as needed, and other duties as assigned or requested. (10%)


QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, marketing, communication

  • 1 year of experience in outreach and education in the community, attending events, engaging organizations and public speaking.

Substitutions

  • 3-5 years of experience performing education and engagement in the community with a proven record of an increase in referrals


Preferred

  • Masters degree

SKILLS:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Ability to write, relate and communicate in a highly professional yet personable manner

  • Demonstrates flexibility on the job and with work needs and hours

  • Customer relations and patent experience understanding

  • Effective public speaking skills
