JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for the strategic planning, development, and management of all facilities and construction-related activities across the healthcare network. This role oversees the planning, design, construction, renovation, and maintenance of all hospital buildings, medical office buildings, and other related facilities. The VP ensures that all facilities are safe, efficient, compliant with regulations, and supportive of the delivery of high-quality patient care.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and implement a comprehensive facilities master plan that aligns with the organization's strategic goals and growth plans.
Provide leadership and direction to the facilities, real estate, and construction teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Develop and manage the annual capital and operating budgets for facilities and construction, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation.
Oversee all construction projects, from initial planning and design to final completion and occupancy.
Manage relationships with architects, engineers, contractors, and other vendors, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Ensure compliance with all applicable building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
Oversee the maintenance and repair of all facilities, ensuring a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the life of building systems.
Manage energy consumption and implement energy-efficient initiatives to reduce costs and promote sustainability.
Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including those related to healthcare facilities, safety, and environmental protection.
Oversee the organization's real estate functions, ensuring effective execution of the following:
Translation of growth strategy into a facilities footprint plan.
Performance of real estate market assessments and identification of opportunities for strategic acquisitions, dispositions, and leases.
Management of the real estate portfolio, including lease administration, compliance, property management, and internal cost sharing.
Evaluation of property taxes and related issues, including management of appeals and payments.
Management of support services to enable effective use of real estate assets.
Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing team of real estate, facilities and construction professionals.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and coaching to team members.
Promote a culture of safety and accountability within the facilities and construction departments.
Communicate effectively with senior leadership, medical staff, department heads, and other stakeholders regarding facilities and construction projects.
Prepare and present reports on project status, budget performance, and other relevant metrics.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure that facilities projects meet their needs and support their operational goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum
- 10 years in management or leadership role
- 10 years of progressive experience in facilities management and construction
- 10 years of financial management (departmental budget, P&L, capital budget, etc.)
- 10 years of healthcare industry experience
SKILLS:
Strong financial management skills, including a track record of capturing significant savings through efficiency improvements, resource balancing, and expense reduction.
Proven leadership skills, particularly the ability to motivate others and quickly achieve results.
Proven ability to develop and manage long term capital budgets.
Proficient management of facility information systems and construction ERP systems.
Strong organizational planning skills, including assessing talent and developing an efficient, effective, and sustainable organizational structure.
Strong knowledge of construction project delivery methods and ability to apply them appropriately.
Strong knowledge of facility infrastructure, including technologies, operations and maintenance.
Ability to identify opportunities for operational improvement and to develop and defend business cases for such improvements.
Proven ability to develop trust and rapport with senior leadership.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, facility management, business administration, construction management or a similarly pertinent field of study. 7 years of additional experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
Master's degree engineering, facility management, business administration, construction management or a similarly pertinent field of study preferred.
