GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This job provides patient care, documents and charges for care per department policy, fulfills legal and ethical requirements of the profession and position, independently supervises Behavioral Health Consultants and operations of the BHC services in ambulatory areas. Implements BHC programs, policies, and procedures of the department and conforms to budgetary guidelines, promotes services to internal and external customers and prioritizes service excellence and customer satisfaction. Develops and monitors a clinical plan and helps manager oversee all activities of program implementation. This job is responsible for the usual BHC duties and continues to act in the role of BHC direct patient care for 60% of their time. The remaining 40% of their time they provide support to practices who are integrating Behavioral Health Consultants into their workflow. The
BHC Supervisor has BHC and BHC Lead direct reports and supports the Behavioral Health Manager with a strong emphasis on population health, risk stratification and tracking outcomes.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform management responsibilities to include, but are not limited to: involved in hiring and termination decisions, coaching and development, rewards and recognition, performance management and staff productivity.  Plan, organize, staff, direct and control the day-to-day operations of the department; develop and implement policies and programs as necessary; may have budgetary responsibility and authority. (15%)
  • Performs all of the duties of the usual BHC job description part-time providing direct care to patients. (55%)
  • Supervise daily behavioral health consultant operations and staff and assists Manager with discipline specific issues with behavioral health consultant staff or operations including prioritization of workload and adjustment of staffing patterns accordingly. (15%)
  • Provide technical, educational, and training regarding behavioral health consultant role to practice staff and various departments as needed. Provides education across the network on BHC/collaborative are model. Is responsible for orienting and training any new behavioral health consultants. (5%)
  • Takes responsibility for knowledge and accurate compliance with insurance regulations and performance improvement principles. Oversees best practices for billing and payment models appropriate to services provided, recognizing trends and facilitating  required documentation to meet standards and billing requirements. (5%)
  • Participates in the selection and development of staff ensuring competency and holding staff to high standards of performance. Supervises and evaluates staff. Recommends and implements approved corrective action. Follows Core Behaviors and holds staff accountable to Core Behaviors. (5%)
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • Master's degree in Counseling or Social Work
  • 3 years with evidence-based counseling techniques, screening, diagnosis, and treatment of common mental health and substance abuse disorders
  • 3 years in integrated care and/or behavioral health
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) OR Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
  • CPR – American Heart Association

  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate

  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
