What one of our externs said
During the summer as a PNA, I was able to expand my knowledge on various aspects of patient care and apply what I had learned previously to everyday real-life scenarios. The externship has really prepared me to step into the RN role when I graduate next year as the program has a hands on approach. The staff was quick to involve me with whatever they could. If there was an interesting case or a bedside procedure being done, they pulled me aside and made sure I was able to have that experience.I always strive to put the patient first and meet any needs they may have during this stressful time in their life. No one wants to be admitted to the hospital, but you can really make a difference by being there for them and providing the best possible care. Without having a team that is cohesive with the same values and work ethic, it would be much harder to provide that care. Luckily, I am surrounded by professionals who are always there to help and look out for each other.
