GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This job is responsible for training new staff to use the Epic system and provide ongoing training for existing staff including refresher training,  training for Epic upgrades, how to optimize use of Epic, and to review workflows, work queues, or other areas for targeted quality improvement.  Trainers also maintain training materials and Epic training environments to reflect the current state of the Epic system.  As learning ambassadors, trainers work with a multitude of stakeholders to enhance their own knowledge and incorporate feedback into improvements and enhancements of the training curriculum. 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Credential in two Epic applications and actively maintains up-to-date content and trains on both applications on a scheduled rotation and may serve as chimer/co-facilitator.
  • Prepare for pre and post training session. Set up training lessons, printing materials, arrange training room and environment and return training room to original state after the training session. 
  • Present verbal and written information in a clear and easy‐to‐understand manner and actively engage with all trainees and encourage collaboration among trainees. 
  • Follow up outside of the classroom to offer post-training support through response to parking lot questions, on-site elbow support, and classroom performance reports. 
  • Actively participate and engage with IT (application-specific counterparts and other IT staff) to trouble shoot routine operating or access issues (Epic, ACE, AIM, etc.), along with the on-going maintenance and upgrades of assigned applications. 
  • Conduct routine visits to assigned sites and/or departments (front office and back office) on an annual basis to shadow and identify related end‐user workflows and job responsibilities. 
  • Designs, develops, and matintains role‐based training content, instructional materials, and workflow/operational feedback for new and existing training, including meeting deliverable by delivery dates, independently or with team members.
  • Triage and resolve requests for support from tickets generated through Cherwell and from requests generated through other channels.  

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Education or Finance, or relevant experience and/or education as determined by the company in lieu of bachelor's degree
  • 3 - 5 years in training or educational functions
  • 3 - 5 years in revenue cycle operations, patient access, provider billing, and/or hospital billing

Preferred

  • Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Education or Finance
  • 3 - 5 years with EPIC
  • EPIC Certification (thru EPIC or by previous employer)

Skills

  • Capacity to manage multiple competing objectives and to clearly communicate results
  • Ability to lead others and to communicate the importance of training to all stakeholders
  • Experience with project management, adult education, and curriculum delivery
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills; ability to sequence activities logically
  • Ability to develop and adhere to time schedules in order to meet project deadlines
  • Interpersonal skills to function well in administrative, management, and patient care environments
  • Ability to work effectively with staff at all levels
  • Experience with technology or healthcare
  • Existing knowledge of organizational culture, personnel, and processes
  • Knowledge of and the ability to use PC-based word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software to create teaching and learning materials and documentation
  • Excellent knowledge of English grammar and spelling for use in both verbal and written communication
