Highmark Health is a “Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion,” earning 100 percent on the Disability Equality Index®. This distinction is earned based on four major categories: Culture & Leadership, Enterprise-Wide Access, Employment Practices, and Community Engagement & Support Services.
In recognition of our inclusive culture for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer or questioning employees, we’re proud to announce that Highmark Inc. has earned distinction as a “Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality” from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. We strive to create an inclusive culture where all employees can bring their whole selves to work, so we’re honored to have earned this distinction!
In December 2015, Highmark Inc. won the Pittsburgh Green Workplace Challenge in the large business category. An annual competition held by Sustainable Pittsburgh for regional businesses, nonprofits, municipalities and universities to track and measure improvements in energy, water, waste and transportation, Highmark Inc. finished ahead of major local Fortune 500 companies.
In 2015, Highmark Health was accredited for the second year as a CEO Cancer Gold Standard™ employer by the CEO Roundtable on Cancer. Highmark Health is one of only seven employers in Pennsylvania to earn the accreditation, which is based on workplace policies and programs to reduce cancer risk and includes sustaining a culture that values, supports and promotes a healthy lifestyle; providing the support needed when a diagnosis of cancer becomes a reality; offering benefits and programs that help to prevent cancer and detect it earlier; and providing access to high-quality treatment, including cancer clinical trials.
In 2016, Highmark Health was recognized by the American Heart Association:
Gold-level “Fit-Friendly Worksite” for the fourth year in a row. The company is being recognized for making improvements in behavior change, reducing health care costs and creating a culture of wellness, as well as offering programs/resources that focus on physical activity, nutrition and environmental changes.
In 2014, Highmark Inc. received WELCOA’s Gold Level Well Workplace Award. The Well Workplace Awards initiative recognizes companies that have built successful results-oriented wellness programs as defined by WELCOA’s Seven Benchmarks.
