Job Description : 

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Evaluates and provides treatment for patients with injuries or diseases, resulting in loss of physical or functional abilities with an emphasis on diagnoses of the hand and upper extremity. Supervises work performed by support staff; effectively communicates and collaborates with patients, family, and members of the healthcare team.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patient’s condition and established goals and plan of care, which are appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient/family according to their capabilities and desires.
  • Performs therapy interventions utilizing standard, and possibly specialized, occupational therapy techniques and skills as appropriate for the age and condition of the patient.
  • Completes documentation to comply with department, hospital, and regulatory standards.
  • Participates in departmental initiatives for operational improvement including committees and education offerings.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 5-7 years of clinical experience, including 4,000 hours or more in direct practice in hand therapy.
  • Current state licensure as an Occupational Therapist or eligible.
  • Certified Hand Therapist
  • Current driver’s license may be required.
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.

Preferred

  • Master’s Degree.
