GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This position is responsible for staffing, organizing, planning, controlling, managing and making decisions with respect to the present and future operations of the non-invasive vascular lab, Wound Center, and Echocardiography department at Allegheny General Hospital and maintaining the required certification and regulations. Vascular lab position has oversight of West Penn vascular lab services and oversight of Physician Organization vascular lab services at Jefferson Hospital, Forbes Regional Hospital, Wexford Medical Mall, and Mon Valley/Peters office locations.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages and supervises all aspects of the non-invasive vascular lab, Wound Center, and Echocardiography department at Allegheny General Hospital. Directly oversees daily operations. (20%)
  • Practices sound fiscal management demonstrated by preparation and control of operating and capital budgets, the monitoring of resource utilization and justification of variances. Assists with vascular lab budgeting at Physician Organization locations. (20%)
  • Participates in the development and implementation of hospital and departmental policies and procedures, effectively communicates and enforces the policies to ensure compliance. Develops and implements policies specific to all Physician Organization vascular lab locations. (15%)
  • Maintains accreditations and quality assurance for all vascular labs at Physician Organization locations and accreditation of Echocardiography department. (15%)
  • Promotes a professional work environment through the utilization of sound personnel management principles. Hires and supervises staff, evaluates their work, mentors, and recommends and implements disciplinary action as required. Acts as a departmental leader utilizing good decision making skills to facilitate coordination, communication and problem resolution. (15%)
  • Pursues continuous performance improvement by monitoring and evaluating the quality and appropriateness of care. Initiates performance improvement activities and monitors the outcomes. (10%)
  • Completes and maintains NIA/Medicare applications specific to vascular lab services at all Physician Organization locations. (5%)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • Bachelor’s degree or 6 years of relevant experience and/or education as determined by the company in lieu of bachelor's degree
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) and/or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) issued by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography(ARDMS), or Registered cardiac Sonographer or Registered vascular sonographer  issued by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
  • Minimum of 3 years experience working in a Non-Invasive Vascular Lab, Echocardiography, and Operating Room
  • CPR – American Heart Association

  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate

  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Preferred

  • Leadership experience
  • Master’s Degree
