GENERAL OVERVIEW:
This job responsibility is to provide leadership in achieving ongoing coaching, development, performance management, and efficiency of the Financial Advocacy department. The incumbent will oversee the daily functions of the department and implementation of strategies designed to minimize the finical risk to the organization by ensuring patients are assisted with alternative payment programs. Knowledge of federal and state regulations impacting patient finical requirements are essential elements to this role. Primary responsibilities include effectively planning, managing, and monitoring the Financial Advocacy department. The incumbent performs day-to-day management of the department's personnel, suggests modification to policies and processes, implements new initiatives within the department, and continually seeks mechanisms to streamline and automate processes to maximize the effectiveness of the department.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform management responsibilities to include, but are not limited to: involved in hiring and termination decisions, coaching and development, rewards and recognition, performance management and staff productivity. Plan, organize, staff, direct and control the day-to-day operations of the department; develop and implement policies and programs as necessary; may have budgetary responsibility and authority. (20%)
- Demonstrates knowledge of federal and state regulations related to AHN policies and departmental procedures that impact patient financial obligations. Oversees the communication and training of changes to staff regarding policies and departmental procedures. (20%)
- Liaison (verbal and written) with key partners such as Finance, Central Business Office, Compliance, HIM, Coding, Clinical Departments, Information Technology, Vendors, as well as others. (20%)
- Develop and maintain a training program and materials for the Financial Advocacy Department. This would include but not limited to policies, procedures, standards of work, changes to the accounts receivable system, and other programs. Oversee additional coaching to staff to maintain departmental standards. (20%)
- Monitor the day-to-day functions of the Financial Advocacy department by effective planning to overseeing daily activities, delegating tasks, mentoring, quality reviews, and guiding through demonstration of best practices. Suggest modification to policies and procedures, and implement new initiatives within the department to create a stream line approach to maximize effectiveness of the department. (20%)

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum
- Bachelor's Degree or or relevant experience and/or education as determined by the company in lieu of bachelor's degree
- 5 years with a Healthcare revenue cycle
- 1 year in a management or supervisory role
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
