Job Description :
Highmark Inc. seeks a Data Scientist in Pittsburgh, PA to develop, coordinate, and manage analytics, models, health outcome studies and related forecasting, as well as actual results analysis related to a portfolio of activities focused on operating margin improvements. Specific duties include: (i) developing the web applications and other technologies to enable those processes; (ii) identifying, designing, implementing, and monitoring initiatives that improve the organization’s revenue, claims, and administrative expenses; and (iii) developing improved business cases and savings estimate capabilities to enable more accurate projections.
Must have a Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Analytics, Business, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, Information Science, Engineering, or a directly related discipline plus one (1) year in a finance, accounting, or analytics/informatics position.
The required one (1) year of experience must include one (1) year with: (i) Python, Java, R or Skala; and (ii) SQL.
Must have any experience with or knowledge of: (i) one big data tool including Hadoop, Spark, Preferred Map Reduce, Pig or SOLR; (ii) Linux environment and basic shell scripting; and (iii) advanced statistical modeling and machine learning techniques.
