Job Description
GENERAL OVERVIEW
Applies clinical expertise in evidence-based nursing practice. Integrates care with multidisciplinary team (within the hospital and in the community) to facilitate MCS patients care from pre implant through explant.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure all program and regulatory requirements are met for the emergent and pre-planned BTT or DT VAD insertions.
Facilitate the discharge, education and transition of the MCS patients from the inpatient to the outpatient care.
Coordinate the outpatient care of the MCS patient.
Assist with the coordination of staff educational programs related to the Mechanical Circulatory Support Program.
Ensure communication of MCS patient's needs with local ER's EMS and electric companies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum
BSN or Bachelor's degree required
Current RN PA license in good standing
Minimum 5 years of nursing experience
Minimum 2 years recent experience in the management of heart failure patients.
Experience in developing policies, procedures and guidelines.
Must be able to cover call requirements
Prefers: Previous recent RN ICU experience
