Job Description :
This position coordinates Allegheny General Hospital’s well-established Open Heart Surgery Observation Program. The incumbent will coordinate observations for students from area high schools, technical schools, colleges, and community groups providing them with a unique educational opportunity to observe a live open heart surgery case in an observation dome overlooking one of Allegheny General Hospital’s cardiac operating rooms. The program currently runs on a flexible schedule, offering observations Monday-Friday during the school year, with occasional dates in the summer months.
- Serving as an ambassador for the program including hosting visits and assisting in providing information about and explaining the operative procedure to be performed. (40%)
- Establishing and maintaining communication with participating schools and groups. (20%)
- Facilitating group visits to AGH’s observation dome. (20%)
- Record keeping, updating and maintaining statistical data on OHS observation visits. (10%)
- Creating, managing and distribution of the open heart surgery observation monthly schedule. (5%)
- Ensuring compliance with hospital visitation and confidentiality guidelines. Ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the dome environment (5%)
- Additional duties as assigned.
- High School/GED
- 3 years of Background in nursing, biology or teaching
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong organizational skills.
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
- Bachelor's degree
