Job Description : 

GENERAL OVERVIEW

Responsible for improving the overall quality and completeness of medical documentation to ensure that appropriate reimbursement is received for the level of service rendered to all inpatients.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Improves the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation by ensuring accuracy and completeness of clinical information. (35%)
  • Facilitates enhancements to clinical documentation to ensure that appropriate reimbursement is received for the level of service rendered to all patients. (35%)
  • Educates all internal customers on compliant documentation responsibilities, coding and reimbursement issues. (15%)
  • Develops physician education strategies to correct negative trends. (15%)

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum

  • Current licensure as an RN.
  • Minimum 5 years nursing experience in an acute care adult  inpatient hospital setting.

Preferred

  • BSN
  • CCDS or CDIP certification
  • 2 years of experience as a Clinical Documentation Specialist in an acute adult inpatient facility.
  • ICD 10 acute inpatient hospital coding experience.
