Job Description : 

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Responsible for the management and oversight of the department operations including budgeting, inventory management, quality, and management of human resources for Gift Shop(s).

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategically positions and manages merchandise and buying operations including but not limited to attending major trade shows, completing year end physical inventory, meeting with sales representatives to remain up to date on current trends and seasonal needs. (20%)
  • Builds customer awareness through promotions and marketing tools such as developing new programs for sales development; maintains an up to date activity log of past and present promotions to forecast future events. (15%)
  • Manages and maintains an operational Point of Sale system, including troubleshooting system failures. (15%)
  • Forecasts and manages all gift shop costs, revenues and overall department expenses; develops and maintains budgetary standards to ensure a cost-effective operation; manages financial obligations by paying all taxes, invoices, and bills in timely manner. (15%)
  • Guides personnel in the performance of their job duties and responsibilities; assists in maintaining standards of service and ensures adequate coverage for operational needs. (10%)
  • Manages fundraising events including but not limited to maintaining and establishing relationships with outside vendors for sales events, sponsorships and all other needs of the Auxiliary. (20%)
  • Manages donations of inventory for all hospital events and awareness activities. Maintains compliance of all hospital and regulatory agencies. (5%)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5-7 years’ retail experience.
  • 3-5 years’ prior supervisory experience.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration
