Job Description : 

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Organizes and directs PA Department of Vital Statistics eVitals activities across AHN for all births and deaths. Provides education and supervision for any/all staff ensuring the timely and accurate input of information is in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, HIPAA and State and Federal Regulations.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Processes birth and death certificates and responds to calls, inquiries as needed.  (35%)
  • Train Birth Registrars and designated HIM staff processes on birth and death certificates across all facilities. Monitor in basket for system accesses . Perform quality reviews on the staff work.  (20%)
  • Processes requests for eVital access. Provide login, password, training materials and training on the use of the software to all users. Training can be in person or virtual. (15%)
  • Facilitate Birth Registrar Weekly huddles with cross functional departments. Monthly eVital huddles for staff involved with death certificate completion. (10%)
  • Monitor workload volumes and distribute work as needed across all facilities.  (10%)
  • Acts as an expert resource for hospital staff for special circumstances related to birth and paternity documentation and death certificate completion. Performs other duties as assigned or required. (10%)
  • Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • High School / GED
  • 3 years in Health Information Management
  • PA Vital Statistics Software experience
  • Microsoft Office applications experience
  • PA Vitals statistics software experience
  • Electronic Health Record experience


Preferred

  • Associate's Degree in Health Information Management
  • 1 year in Customer Service
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
