JOB SUMMARY

The VP Data Operations will own the platform strategy for the core portfolio of enterprise data platforms to ensure the smooth delivery of data operations and consistent improvement of processes and methodologies to store and maintain data; this leader will maximize the deployment of short-and-long-term technological innovations, specifically cloud technologies, to create a centralized operational data structure hub built on standard practices of interaction and uniformity to serve the entire enterprise data foundation and support each individual platform. The VP will interact with and influence senior leaders in the company, up to and including the Chief Operating Officer and business unit CEOs.      

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform management responsibilities to include, but are not limited to: involved in hiring and termination decisions, coaching and development, rewards and recognition, performance management and staff productivity. Plan, organize, staff, direct and control the day-to-day operations of the department; develop and implement policies and programs as necessary; may have budgetary responsibility and authority. (20%)
  • Own the development and deployment of the Enterprise Data Platform cloud roadmap, in conjunction with the broad enterprise data strategy, that will provide the operational foundational for data storage, access and use across the organization, as well as expand platform capabilities in line with BU expectations. (20%)
  • Deliver flexible, high-quality platform infrastructure and operational solutions that adhere to privacy policies, mandates and regulations to continuously improve platform processes and technology in line with time parameters and budget expectations. This delivery will be focused specifically on cloud technologies while mitigating legacy on-prem data infrastructure. (15%)
  • Create strong partnership across the Enterprise and within the Enterprise Data Office.  This includes effectively presenting complex topics in a concise manner that will influence multiple stake holders and support functions to listen, commit and act on transformational approaches.  Form, cultivate, and maintain strong working relationships with data owners, data stewards and BU leadership to champion process improvement initiatives, enforce data standards, unify datasets, identify technology gaps and pioneer platform solutions. (15%)
  • Utilize innovative leadership to generate operational excellence through the development of a high-performing teams of cross-functional talent that apply best practices and Agile principles to workflows in order to build, strengthen and support data operations. (10%)
  • Communicate with key stakeholders and executive leadership to provide regular updates on initiatives and strategic undertakings.(10%)
  • Work with directors and stakeholders to drive the development and implementation of tactical platform initiatives that deliver on corporate strategy. (5%)
  • Collaborate across multiple platform teams to drive standardization, increase knowledge sharing and maintain appropriate documentation. (5%)

EDUCATION


Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field

Substitutions

  • 6 years of related and progressive experience in lieu of Bachelor's degree


Preferred

  • Master's in IT or Business

EXPERIENCE


Required

  • 10 years in Data or IT Operations

To Include

  • 7 years in a leadership role
  • 3 years of managing contracted teams including, preferably offshore, & incorporating into existing environments
  • 3 years of operating in cloud-enabled environments
  • 3 years leading agile teams

Preferred

  • 3 years in the Healthcare Industry (provider or payor)

  • Capability to effectively drive performance, build trust and motivate cross-functional teams, in-person and virtually, to work toward enterprise goals
  • Proven understanding of cloud technologies including deployment of cloud data platforms

  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively persuade others to listen, commit, and act on a new approach
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey and support innovative ideas to executive leadership and technology experts
  • Effectively presents complex topics in a concise manner to audiences at various levels (up to Executive/Board) and in various sizes
  • Self-Confident with an ability to accept and respond to challenges in a positive manner
  • Deep understanding of Agile Methodologies
