GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This position is responsible for energy management activities for all Allegheny Health Network (AHN) sites and for managing environmental sustainability programs including overseeing environmental data quality, analyzing environmental performance, and preparing summary level data for executive level presentations. The Energy Manager will provide assistance to the facility maintenance departments with technical support for energy saving initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and energy use metrics for all AHN sites.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversight of bidding and procurement for all utilities for all AHN sites. Contracts covered include utilities, energy marketer, and third party suppliers of energy and energy related products and services. (20%)
  • Technical assistance to various AHN entities in need of guidance related to energy efficient operation. Such entities include but are not limited to all AHN hospitals, outpatient facilities, office buildings and leased physician practice locations. (20%)
  • Active participation as a member Pittsburgh 2030 District to promote AHN interests in energy policy making, utility company rate request decisions and opinions on the effects of existing and proposed laws and tariffs. (20%)
  • Leader for conservation teams to identify opportunities for savings and evaluation of energy savings proposals. The scope of the team is to identify areas in need of improvement; identify projects to reduce energy consumption; and promote training and awareness to the AHN staff. (15%)
  • Effective utilization of building controls systems to ensure that building infrastructure systems are operating at peak efficiencies. (15%)
  • Participation in various local and national energy program initiatives such as Pittsburgh 2030, Energy Star and Energy to Care. (5%)
  • Management of energy budget with annual and monthly energy cost forecasting, monthly bill paying and utility invoice oversight. (5%)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, mechanical/electrical engineering, or a related field
  • 5-7 years of energy management experience

Preferred

  • Master's degree in energy management or business
  • Certified Energy Manager, Professional Engineer
