Job Description : 

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Provides support in collecting, organizing, storing, and retrieving all Medical Records. In addition, the role will be involved maintaining system information through data entry and various processes involving medical information.  The position will also be involved with various technologies used in maintaining the medical information.

The Medical Records Specialist will have various responsibilities based on the duties listed below.  Each individual in the department will be able to perform the responsibilities below, but will have most of their daily responsibilities fall under one or two categories.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Organize, store, and maintain medical record information.
  • Receive, sort, and forward incoming mail and faxes as related to Medical Records. 
  • Medical Records Management
  • Electronic documentation from within system by way of Metrofax, Medical Records Scanning File, and Scanned Error File.
  • Hard Copy Documentation received from mail, being dropped off by providers, or received on office fax machine.
  • Orders Management
  • New, Pending, and Billing Pending Processing
  • Marking Receipt and of orders and updating CIBS
  • Interaction with E-Portal MD
  • Thorough knowledge of and strict adherence to Allegheny Health Network Home Infusion’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 6 months to 1 year of relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
