JOB SUMMARY

This job is accountable for the clinical segment and market strategy.  The incumbent leads a team of client  facing clinicians and non-clinical consultants who support the sales organization to achieve growth, retention and revenue goals.  The incumbent is accountable for developing clinical management strategies related to our clients’ pharmacy and medical benefits that will positively impact the clinical and cost management outcomes of the client.  The incumbent will develop a clinical management strategy that will improve medical and pharmacy cost trends for our clients.   The incumbent is critical to sales’ ability to grow new business, retain existing business and increase revenue through the sale of clinical program buy up products.  The incumbent leads an organization accountable for advising clients on how to optimize the clinical management of their members.   The incumbent will collaborate with Product Strategy, Operations, and other matrixed partners to ensure successful clinical client management. The individual will ensure Highmark delivers an integrated value proposition related to medical and pharmacy clinical programs as well as Highmark’s Living Health Solutions.  The incumbent will bring the voice of the market in support of product strategy and development creating a continuous feedback loop related to clinical and Living Health Solutions.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs management responsibilities to include but are not limited to: involved in hiring and termination decisions, coaching and development, rewards and recognition, performance management and staff productivity.
  • Responsible for the  the day-to-day operations of the clinical client strategy department;
  • Responsible to function as the lead for clinical client facing capabilities within Highmark Inc. This includes establishing a vision and strategic direction for Highmark’s clinical client strategy and determining how this function can best support the needs of the segments  and its customers.
  • Supports overall market and segment growth and retention goals through the development of an effective client clinical management strategy in support of medical and pharmacy program solutions.  Articulate a clear value proposition related to medical and pharmacy integration. 
  • Leads a team that develops, maintains, and documents strong working relationships with Clients, consultants and other  internal stakeholders in order to provide support and add value to the account relationship through clinical analysis, recommendations, education, and advisement.
  • Develops a clinical client management strategy that leverages clinical, non-clinical resources in the most cost effective and clinically appropriate way to meet the market expectations related to clinical program support.
  • Works with internal and external business partners to ensure successful clinical, cost and trend management for our customers..
  • Provides the clinical voice of the market to advise clinical program development and execution.
  • Supports revenue targets through the sale of clinical program buy ups including medical, pharmacy and Living Health Solutions.
  • Contributes to sales training for our clinical programs for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Understands the current regional and national health care environment and the Organization’s position on health care issue.
  • Understand and apply privacy regulations.
  • Communicates effectively and manages relationships with senior and mid-level executives both internally and externally in formal and informal meeting/presentation venues, including internal departments critical to our clinical value proposition, our partner plans, consulting firms, and clients.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Pharmacy, Medical or other clinical related field
  • 10 years in the Healthcare, Clinical Operations, or Insurance Industry or combination
  • 7 years of Customer Facing support
  • 7  years in a management or leadership role
