Job Description : 

GENERAL OVERVIEW

This job directs the Prehospital Care Transport and Response staff in support of emergency and non emergency patient care and transport for AHN. Responsible for all medical licensure, clinical and communications operations, evaluating and recommending capital purchases, billing of EMS contractors as well as oversight of staff, education and training. Maintains performance improvement activities and actively participates in all service and quality initiatives. Develops and controls the annual budget. Working with PCS Leadership, develops a strategic plan, organizes the department to meet the milestones and goals and is responsible for achieving the department outcomes. 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform management responsibilities to include, but are not limited to:involved in hiring and termination decisions, coaching and development, rewards and recognition, performance management and staff productivity. Plan, organize staff, direct and control the day-to-day operations of the department; develop and implement policies and programs as necessary; may have budgetary responsibility and authority. (20%)
  • Directs all aspects of patient care to ensure patient, facility and customer needs are met. (10%)
  • Development, implementation and evaluation of training for communications specialists and Prehospital clinical staff. (10%)
  • Provides education and guidance to staff on performance improvement. Able to plan, organize and participate in orientation and in-service training for staff. (10%)
  • Ensures staff compliance and competency with emergency  and non emergent medical transport regulations, protocol and policy and procedures and with environmental safety and infection control standards. (10%)
  • Plans, manages, and evaluates marketing goals. (10%)
  • Stays informed of trends, advancements in prehospital medicine through continuing education, seminars, conferences, professional societies and journals and keeps personnel properly informed. (10%)
  • Monitors and adheres to annual operating budgets. (10%)
  • Other duties as assigned or requested (10%).

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5 years Paramedic or PHRN
  • 3 years EMS Management
  • 3 years Dispatching experience or knowledge for an EMS agency
  • Pennsylvania DOH Paramedic OR Pennsylvania DOH Prehospital Registered Nurs

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification

  • Prehospital Trauma Life Support Certificaton

Preferred

  • 1 year of strong understanding of EMS structure, EMS communications/technology and personnel-staff scheduling
  • 1 year of proficiency with database configuration and operation
  • 1 year of strong understanding of EMS payment plans and various modes of EMS and patient transport service
  • 1 year of strong understanding of EMS billing and reimbursement
