Job Description : 

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Provides supervision of staff and area functions; serves as a physician liaison; and performs prescribed diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine imaging and patient care services per established protocol. Performs other duties as assigned.  Delivers positive patient experience and serves as a role model for Core Behaviors. Cooperates with and maintains excellent working relationships with patients, AHN leadership and staff, physician offices and designated external agencies or vendors.  Provides any written or verbal communication necessary to exchange information with designated contacts and promote working relationships.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acts as a mentor for new staff and uses technical expertise to improve staff performance.  Assists in the management of human resources (performance management), staff/equipment schedule, payroll, and non-labor expenses and activities for the department.  Maintains a quality assurance program outlined by regulatory agencies to meet requirements.  (40%)
  • Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately for independent nuclear medicine imaging. Prepares for and assists physician relative to procedures in nuclear imaging.  Orders, prepares, administers, and disposes of radiopharmaceuticals according to established protocols. (25%)
  • Implements radiation protection and safety standards and provides technical expertise for development of protocols. Implements and standardizes imaging protocols in coordination with radiation physics and division directors. (15%)
  • Completes all required documentation for procedures, e.g. regulatory, billing protocol and image distribution.  Maintains ACR certification and registries (if applicable). Implements and educates staff on all imaging institute policies, procedures, guidelines, and quality initiatives for Nuclear Medicine modality.  (20%)
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or required 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • Graduate from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology Program.
  • 3 years as a Registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
  • Nuclear Medicine Technology certification OR Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT)
  • CPR certification
  • Exhibits leadership skills

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Prior supervisory experience.
