Job Description : 

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Provides supervision of staff and area functions; serves as a physician liaison; and performs prescribed MRI imaging and patient care services per established protocol. Performs other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acts as a mentor for new staff and uses technical expertise to improve staff performance.  Assists in the management of human resources (performance management), staff/equipment schedule, payroll, and non-labor expenses and activities for the department.  Maintains a quality assurance program according to regulations established by regulatory bodies.  
  • Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately for independent MRI imaging per established protocols.  Prepares for and assists physician while performing procedures.  Prepares contrast media and/or medications within accepted scope of practice. 
  • Implements MRI safety and patient safety standards and provides technical expertise for development of protocols.  Implements and standardizes imaging protocols in coordination with radiation physics and division directors. 
  • Assures completion of all required documentation for quality control and equipment maintenance, procedures, e.g. regulatory, billing, protocol and image distribution.  Maintains ACR certification and registries (if applicable).  Implements and educates staff on all imaging institute policies, procedures, guidelines, and quality initiatives for MRI modality. 
  • Performs duties as assigned or required

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent education and experience.
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) OR  Radiology certification
  • 3 years as an MRI Technologist.
  • CPR certification.
  • Exhibits leadership skills

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Previous supervisory experience
