Background and Skills

Our Customer Service team members come from many different backgrounds. We look for people who listen, understand and communicate – those who can excel in any type of customer service environment.

In our Customer Service roles, a background in health care, while helpful, is not essential. Your attitude and aptitude are far more important.

You will excel with our customer service teams if you:

  • Are a clear, confident natural communicator
  • Are computer literate, accurate and careful when dealing with important customer information
  • Are diplomatic and capable of dealing with challenging customers
  • Are sensitive and tactful, as well as caring and compassionate

Professional Development
From day one, we support you with training, encouragement and development so you quickly feel confident and you can start to grow your skills.

Our training focuses on two areas:  

Product Knowledge
To best serve our customers, you must be knowledgeable about our health plans. There is a lot to learn, but we provide training, support, mentoring and ongoing learning, so you can always be confident and clear on every call.

Process Knowledge
We help you understand how our health plans work so that you can maintain our systems effectively, update customer details and ensure that claims are processed correctly.

With a strong base of training, our Customer Service teams build on their skills quickly and take on more responsibility. There are opportunities in the future to specialize in specific product areas, to focus on more complex customer cases or to move up into a Team Leader role.
